Assignment 2 International Relations Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words
Assign workforcet 2 International Relations - Essay ExampleThere are many some other areas which earth-closet affect the mollification in this world. In Egypt, the struggle for displacing the current president Hosni Mubarak has been succeeded at the time of writing this paper. Even though no bloody wars were conducted to spread-eagle Mubarak, many people died in the encounters between the police and the public. In short, peace is a complex entity which depends on so many positionors. In a confederation where the discriminations with respect to race or gender exist, we cannot say that peace exists there. Same way in a society, where human rights have no meaning, we cannot say that peace exist there. In short, peace has so many dimensions. This paper analyses the dimensions of peace with respect to gender in general and that of the women in particular. Although gender roles change all over time and are culturally dependent, gender is used as a benchmark to determine access and p ower, and is the rubric under which inequality is justified and hold (CAPRIOLI M, n. d.p.163). In some cultures, women and men are enjoying almost equal status. In most of the Christian and Hindi communities, women and men are enjoying equal rights. In fact in Hindu community, women have slightly upper role than the men. However, in Muslim Patriarch societies, still women face serious poisonousities. For example, Afghanistan is infamous for religious fundamentalism. The paterfamilias Afghan Muslim society does not give any freedom to the females. In fact the Muslim females in Afghanistan are facing lot of brutal behaviours from the male counterparts. Multiple causes of violence against women exist, yet inequality of power (domination and subordination) is a common denominator in all acts of violence (CAPRIOLI M, n. d.p.163). Baker (2010) has written the story of Beebe Ayesha, wife of a cruel Afghan husband, whose thump and ear were cut off by the Taliban for trying to escape fro m her husbands house, in Time powder magazine The Taliban pounded on the door just before midnight, demanding that Aisha, 18, be punished for running away from her husbands house. They dragged her to a mountain clearing near her village in the southerly Afghan province of Uruzgan, ignoring her protests that her in-laws had been abusive, that she had no choice but to escape. Shivering in the cold air and blinded by the flashlights trained on her by her husbands family, she approach her spouse and accuser. Her in-laws treated her like a slave, Aisha pleaded. They beat her. If she hadnt run away, she would have died. Her judge, a local Taliban commander, was unmoved. Later, he would tell Aishas uncle that she had to be made an example of lest other girls in the village try to do the same thing. The commander gave his verdict, and men moved in to deliver the punishment. Aishas brother-in-law held her down while her husband pulled out a knife. First he sliced off her ears. Then he star ted on her nose. Aisha passed out from the pain but awoke soon after, choking on her own blood. The men had left her on the mountainside to die (Baker, 2010). This story clearly shows that peace cannot be established in this world without ensuring equality to all. Aisha succeeded in getting her nose back after escaping to United Sates and undergoing plastic surgery for the reconstruction of her nose. However, there are many other Aishas in Afghanistan like fundamental societies and without ensuring fair treatments to these people, it is unimaginable for us to say that peace exists in this word.
